A funeral mass for Richard will be held on Friday 16, 2024, at 11:00 am at Divine Mercy Church with Fr. Micheal Farrel officiating. The family will meet visitors prior to mass starting at 10:30 am.

Richard Paul Dewan, age 69, was called home to heaven on Wednesday, February 7, 2024. He was born in Oneonta, New York on February 7, 1955, to Carmen and Eleanor Dewan. He attended Merritt Island High School in Merritt Island and later graduated Automotive Training Program at Brevard Community College in Cocoa. Along with his automotive background, he had over 30 years in the trucking industry as a family-owned operating truck business. Richard was a member of St. Teresa church in Titusville, Florida. Richard is survived by his wife Christine Dewan; children Vincent (Desiree’) Dewan, Danielle (Jason) Pimenta; and Krystina. He was Pop-Pop to his granddaughters Lilly, Adalee and our newest addition Lorenza.

My husband was an Army Veteran and they draped him with the American Flag as they were removing him from VITAS Hospice. We just had a wonderful experience at Island cremation with my father-in-law’s funeral. We had three meetings before the ceremony even started to make sure that everything was going to be done properly and that we’re all on the same page. Island cremation arranged for the Marines to come and do a flag honor ceremony that was an excellent touch and made the whole ceremony very memorable. The funeral home was very clean and they even had masks and hand sanitizer set out. They helped setting up our food plus supplied some of their own. Very professional and highly recommended.

I had a Celebration of Life for my husband on his birthday last Friday.

Island Cremations helped me plan for the Funeral. They have been like family. I even brought my husband’s miniature poodle.

Dillon, Mike & Dawn helped me set up and clean up. We brought in food and drinks. I had a soft jazz CD playing in the rooms. The alter had my husband’s Dolphin Urn and flowers. His picture with him holding a 52 pound Dolphin was on a projector screen above the alter.

Pastor Babington did a wonderful sermon. The family & friends spoke of memorial times.

We all thank you for your kindness and warmth for this Celebration of Life for my husband.
