Patricia (Petey) Kenny Minkus McCain, age 74, entered into rest after a battle with cancer on Sunday, June 6, 2021. She was born in Paris, Kentucky on September 1,1946 to the late Andrew Peter Minkus and Clarice Williams Minkus Waugh. She was raised in Lexington, Kentucky by her mother and stepfather, Isaac Daniel Waugh Sr.
Survivors include her son, Michael Lawson (Paulette) of Clay City, KY; three grandchildren: Hailey Lawson Chase (Hunter) of Titusville, FL, Garret Lawson, serving in the US Army Ft. Campbell KY, Casey Lawson of Clay City, KY, and great granddaughter Riley Banks of Clay City, KY. She is also survived by two brothers: Gregory Waugh (Debbie) of Cocoa, Fl, and Isaac Waugh Jr (Tommie Sue) of Georgetown, TX, and stepsister, Betty Brisbay, of Lexington, KY.
She is preceded in death by her son, Ronnie Lawson, stepbrother Walter Waugh, and stepsister, Cornelia Koch.
Petey was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She traveled often back to Kentucky from her home in Florida to celebrate holidays, birthdays, and reunions with family. Petey loved the Florida sunshine, enjoying a good meal with friends and family, celebrating Thanksgiving and Christmas with her favorite people, and sharing Disney World adventures with her grandchildren.
Petey counted among her many friends, her patrons, and co-workers from the Continental Inn in Lexington, where she worked for 11 years, and from the Elks Lodge in Cocoa, Florida, where she worked for 20 years. Petey was a loyal and devoted friend and will be best remembered for her love of family, and her caring spirit.
