Michael S. Akerberg, age 48, of Cocoa, Fl, died unexpectedly, Saturday, February 11, 2023, in Palm Bay, Fl.
He was owner and operator of Total Boat Works of Central Florida LLC. Born in Pt. Pleasant Beach, New
Jersey, his technical training started early in his career, which saw him achieve Master Mechanic certification in
Pennsylvania, where he opened his own garages. After being exposed to boats however, first by his brother-inlaw, and later by his mentor, who took him into the Marine Industry, he found his true passion. After twenty
plus years as a yacht technician and business owner in the Chesapeake, he sought more, and opened his current
business six years ago in Cocoa, FL. He remained mobile, however, and serviced yachts, primarily in Florida,
but also up and down the coastal areas from Maryland to the Florida Keys. He owned several boats in his
lifetime and was an excellent captain and boater. There was nothing that made him happier than to just be on
the water with his family, friends, and customers.
Michael also served as a volunteer firefighter for several years in Mount Joy, PA.
His personal life always anchored in the love he had for his three children. They were the centerpiece of his life
and everyone who knew him well, knew so much of them. He always carried them with him and in the smile he
always wore.
He is survived by his former wife, Trisha Wilkinson, and their three children, Dylan Michael Akerberg, 16,
Gauge Michael Akerberg, 9, and Adeline (Addy) Marie Akerberg, 7, all from Bainbridge, PA. He is also
survived by a daughter, Alexis Morgan Akerberg, 25, of Elizabethtown, PA.
In addition, a sister, Rhonda Porcher and her husband Peter Porcher of Lockhart, TX, a sister, Angela Kirkland
of New Castle, PA, a sister, Kellie (Kirkland) Wade and her husband, Greg Wade, Sr. of Lilly, PA, a brother,
Frank Kirkland of Camden, NJ, and several nieces and nephews.
Michael is predeceased in death by his mother, Barbara A. (Fischkelta) Akerberg, his father, William J.
Akerberg, his sister, Katie V. Kirkland, and a niece, Ashlee N. Nolan.
