Marta Lynn Graw, 68, of Merritt Island, FL died peacefully surrounded by loved ones on June 4, 2024 at Holmes Regional Hospital.

Marta grew up in Merritt Island and attended Mila Elementary, Edgewood Junior High, and Merritt Island High School (Class of 1973). She was a dedicated educator touching the lives of countless students for thirty-five years as a teacher, counselor, and assistant principal in Hillsborough and Palm Beach Counties. She retired in 2013 and returned home to Merritt Island.

Marta was preceded in death by her parents Martin and Opal (Ward) Graw and is survived by her sister Lori Thurow (Steve), nephews Cameron Thurow and Kyle Thurow and niece Kristine Brannigan (Jake), many cousins and countless friends who felt her love and kindness. Marta cherished being an aunt. She played a significant role in the lives of her nephews and niece and was extremely proud of their many accomplishments.

Marta cared deeply for her Merritt Island Mustangs classmates. She was instrumental in organizing class reunions and social gatherings for the past fifty years. Marta was the “glue” that kindled many treasured friendships.

She will be remembered for her unending generosity for others and fervor for life and all its opportunity. She was fearless and independent, yet sensitive and incredibly compassionate. With her infectious smile and laughter, Marta turned ordinary moments into extraordinary ones. Marta loved spending time with family and friends, the beach, traveling, reading, going to Disney World, and the FSU Seminoles.
