Obituary for Loretta S Silver

Loretta S. Silver, 85, of Melbourne, FL, died January 24, 2024, in the loving care of Vitas Hospice in Rockledge, FL.

She was born December 17, 1938, in Brooklyn, NY, to Toby (Fleischer) and Sol Silverman. She grew up in Brooklyn, later moved with her family to Howell, NJ and eventually Melbourne, FL.

She loved her family and friends with a devoted passion and intense sense of loyalty. She enjoyed cooking, reading, writing poetry and needlepoint. She had a special place in her heart for NYC for its food, theatre, and festive atmosphere. She took pride in advancing her career as an administrative assistant in accounting firms, human resource assistant in banking to becoming a Human Resources Director. She loved helping others in need and relished her final job working for AARP helping match seniors to jobs in the community.

Her greatest love was taking care of her family and maintaining friendships. She took joy in her kids’ and grandkids’ accomplishments. She made time for everyone and had a knack for making every person she was with feel like they were the most special person. Everyone benefited from her sound advice, unwavering love, non-judging manner and home-cooked meals. She was the most self-less person, she worried about everyone else, to the end.

Loretta is survived by her daughter, Debra Sloane (Donald Romberg), daughter-in-law, Laurie Young (Steven Young), grandchildren, Seth Kaplan, Jamie Kaplan, Drew Jacoby and Caleb Jacoby, and great-grandson, Noah Kaplan, niece, Sheryl Kromash, nephew, David Zoffer and their families and many close cousins.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Sharon Zoffer and brother-in-law, Jesse Zoffer, and granddaughter, Sloane Alexis Jacoby.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Vitas Healthcare (Rockledge, FL).
