Pasqualina "Lena" Diodato (nee Scorese), beloved wife, sister and aunt passed away on February 21, 2025 at St. Francis Hospice, Titusville, FL at the age of 94. Lena is survived by her loving husband John of 72 years, her beloved sister Vincenzina "Vinnie" De Palma (FL) as well as nephews and nieces. Lena was predeceased by her loving parents Donato and Mary (nee Chieppa) of NJ as well as her younger sister Rose Onorati (nee Scorese) of NJ and late brother-in-law Pascal "Pat" De Palma (FL).
Lena was born in Libertyville, IL on January 1, 1931 as a New Year Baby. She was the oldest of three sisters born to Donato and Mary and lived most of her early life in Denville, NJ. Lena met John, her much beloved husband, through her best friend who was his cousin. Lena and John married January 18, 1953 after his active tour of duty in the US Army as a recognized corpsmen during the Korean War. Lena had a distinguished, nearly 35 year career as an administrative assistant to the Commanding General of Picatinny Arsenal, USAG in Rockaway, NJ. After retirement, Lena relocated to Florida where she resided for nearly 30 years with her husband. She was an avid golfer belonging to many golf country clubs and remained active her entire life.
Never one to seek attention, Lena was most proud of her commitment to helping her parents run their shoe repair business in Denville, NJ, being a loving and caring wife to her husband John for their entire 72 years together and providing love and support to her youngest sister Vinnie. Lena will always be remembered fondly for her intelligence, honesty, kindness and dedication. In Lena's honor, a funeral mass will be held at St. John the Evangelist Church in Melbourne, FL on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at 11:00 AM which was her parish. A private prayer service and interment will follow at the Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, Mims, FL at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N Michigan Avenue, Fl 17 Chicago, IL 60601 or to https://act.alz.org.
