Karen Marie Cherven Soule, age 70, ascended to heaven on March 31, 2024 with her only child, daughter Stacy Rigdon, by her side.

Karen was born to James and Flavia Cherven in Lake Charles, Louisiana. James was in the Air Force and was later assigned to Patrick Air Force Base. The family lived in Satellite Beach where Karen grew up and graduated from Satellite Beach High School. Karen predeceased her siblings Ronald, Sharon, Michelle, Cecily, Misa, and Kerry.

Karen had three grandchildren, Amanda, Haley, and Chase Rigdon. She loved spending time with them. They were “her world.”

Karen loved dancing, spending time with friends, and traveling. A memorable trip was Stacy taking her on a mother/daughter cruise to celebrate Mother’s Day and her 70th birthday. Another recent memorable trip taken was with her best friend Rosemary and Julie to her favorite place Grenada, West Indies.

Karen was a kind person who would root for others and do what she could to help people. She prayed to God and had a prayer box filled with prayer requests for others. She would take the time to uplift a stranger and share something positive with them. She encouraged others to believe in themselves and pursue their dreams.

Her family finds comfort knowing she’s in heaven dancing with Jesus and family members who’ve gone before her.

I dealt with Paul the owner he was very helpful. He assisted in the forms and contacted a few people to help with my fathers passing. They are all very compassionate and caring. It is a nice atmosphere and very professional in how they run the business. They did not try to push me towards anything or any package. My husband was an Army Veteran and they draped him with the American Flag as they were removing him from VITAS Hospice. We just had a wonderful experience at Island cremation with my father-in-law’s funeral. We had three meetings before the ceremony even started to make sure that everything was going to be done properly and that we’re all on the same page. Island cremation arranged for the Marines to come and do a flag honor ceremony that was an excellent touch and made the whole ceremony very memorable. The funeral home was very clean and they even had masks and hand sanitizer set out. They helped setting up our food plus supplied some of their own. Very professional and highly recommended.

I had a Celebration of Life for my husband on his birthday last Friday.

Island Cremations helped me plan for the Funeral. They have been like family. I even brought my husband’s miniature poodle.

Dillon, Mike & Dawn helped me set up and clean up. We brought in food and drinks. I had a soft jazz CD playing in the rooms. The alter had my husband’s Dolphin Urn and flowers. His picture with him holding a 52 pound Dolphin was on a projector screen above the alter.

Pastor Babington did a wonderful sermon. The family & friends spoke of memorial times.

We all thank you for your kindness and warmth for this Celebration of Life for my husband.
