Joseph James Andrukaitis, JR., 88, of Melbourne, Florida, Life Partner of Peggy Cumella, passed away on
Thursday, January 6, 2022. Joseph was born August 5th, 1933 in Scranton, PA. Proceeded in death by his
parents, Joseph Andrukaitis Sr. and Mary Ann Yatkonis and two sisters, his twin Antoinette Jean and
Caroline Mary and survived by his brother Robert John Andrukaitis and sister, Agnes Mary Hatch.
Joseph was blessed with two wonderful women in his life, his late wife, Angela Andrukaitis passed away
in 1990 after 34 years of marriage and Peggy Cumella, his Life Partner, for over 30 years. He leaves
behind 7 children; Sabrina Gail Carr, Joseph Randall Andrukaitis; Mark David Andrukaitis, Danielle
Kathleen Dunet, Joseph Thomas Cumella, III; Michael Joseph Cumella and Samantha Marie Cumella. In
addition he had 14 grandchildren; Erika Noye; Anthony Carr; Randy Andrukaitis; Sean Andrukaitis;
Christopher Andrukaitis; Kedryn Andrukaitis; Austin Andrukaitis; Denay Andrukaitis; Gavin Kvasnicka;
Kelcey Cumella; Kendall Cumella; Kristopher Cumella; Isabelle Cumella; Abigayle Anderson, and 10 great
grandchildren; Elijah & Samaria Cain; Kennedy Andrukaitis; Ella Andrukaitis; Willow and Jameson
Cumella; Luke, Emersyn, Thiago and Mateo Lozano. Graveside services will be held at Indiantown Gap
National Cemetery, Annville, PA. Burial plans will be announced.
He was a graduate of Syracuse High School in Syracuse, NY. A veteran of the United States Air Force, he
served both in the Korean and Vietnam war. Joseph retired from the service in 1980, having served over
28 years. During his time in the military he received numerous distinguished service commendations:
Airman’s Medal; Air Force Commendation Medal; Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon; ADF
Expeditionary Medal; NCO Academy Graduate Ribbon; Good Conduct Medal with three Bronze Loops;
Korean Service Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Ribbon with six Oak Leaf Clusters; National Defense
Service Medal with one Bronze Star; Meritorious Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal; Vietnam
Campaign Medal; United Nations Service Medal; Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with two Oak Leaf
Clusters; Air Force Good Conduct Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters. After his military retirement, he
worked for Johnson Controls in the explosive ordinance field and moved to the Titan program where he
was the Pad Safety Officer, he worked in that position until the Titan program reached its completion in
2005. Joseph enjoyed traveling, working outside and his daily libation at 5pm on the dot. He was a
wonderful man, full of energy and gumption, never backing away from a task and always willing to help
his family. He lived his life to the fullest and in the end, to quote Frank Sinatra, “I did it my way”
