Jo Louise “Jody” Flieder, age 88, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 6, 2023 (her Mother Ruth’s birthday) in Viera, Florida, surrounded by her beloved family. She was born in Melbourne, Iowa on May 13, 1934 to Ruth and Ben Buck. She met her cherished husband Clair at the University of Iowa and married him on May 20, 1956. They moved to Merritt Island, Florida in 1963 where they raised 6 children while Clair managed his accounting firm for 43 years.

Jody was a Homemaker and her life’s focus was to take care of her family in a warm, loving and supportive environment. She was the ultimate “Home Room Mother” and Scout leader with her lavish parties and creative games. Holidays and Christmas time became unforgettable with her love of gift giving and extravagant meals. Saturday night was her homemade “Pizza Night” and her huge Greek salads were delicious. Coordinating 6 children’s activities and schedules were second nature to her and she encouraged each child to pursue their interests and desires.

Jody loved to travel and was able to take many trips to Europe with her best friend Gerdi. She learned to speak German and became a German teacher. Jody was a gifted writer and anyone who received a letter or card from her treasured it . Her most outstanding gift was her unconditional love and support for her family and anyone who was a family friend. Her unique legacy lives on in all of us.

Jody is survived by son Fletcher and wife Sheila, son Farrel “Ken”, daughter Carolyn, daughter Connie and husband David, daughter Cindy, son Jody and wife Donna. Her grandchildren Jonathan, James, Katie, Dylan, Emily, Joel, Ben, Bella, Grace and Nicholas and great-grandchildren Evan, Gabby, Archer and Wesley.
