It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jerry Saylor, 85, of Cocoa FL. He went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 31, 2024.
He was born in Harlan County, KY, on November 21, 1939 to John and Nettie Saylor. After high school he served 3 years in the Kentucky National Guard then 4 years in the United States Navy as a Gunners Mate. It was while he was on leave that he met the love of his life, Merry. They were married for 61 years.
They moved to Cocoa after that, where he got a job at KSC on the fire department, and he spent the next 34 years there. He was a faithful Christian who served his Lord and nation with honor. He passed peacefully at home.

I dealt with Paul the owner he was very helpful. He assisted in the forms and contacted a few people to help with my fathers passing. They are all very compassionate and caring. My husband was an Army Veteran and they draped him with the American Flag as they were removing him from VITAS Hospice. We just had a wonderful experience at Island cremation with my father-in-law’s funeral. We had three meetings before the ceremony even started to make sure that everything was going to be done properly and that we’re all on the same page. Island cremation arranged for the Marines to come and do a flag honor ceremony that was an excellent touch and made the whole ceremony very memorable. The funeral home was very clean and they even had masks and hand sanitizer set out. They helped setting up our food plus supplied some of their own. Very professional and highly recommended.

I had a Celebration of Life for my husband on his birthday last Friday.

Island Cremations helped me plan for the Funeral. They have been like family. I even brought my husband’s miniature poodle.

Dillon, Mike & Dawn helped me set up and clean up. We brought in food and drinks. I had a soft jazz CD playing in the rooms. The alter had my husband’s Dolphin Urn and flowers. His picture with him holding a 52 pound Dolphin was on a projector screen above the alter.

Pastor Babington did a wonderful sermon. The family & friends spoke of memorial times.

We all thank you for your kindness and warmth for this Celebration of Life for my husband.
