Jeffery Edmund Hawes

Jeffery Edmund Hawes passed away peacefully at home on November 13th after a courageous battle with ALS. For over two years, Jeff faced ALS with remarkable positivity, sharing his energy and outlook with everyone around him. His life, however, was so much more than his final years.

Jeff was born in Rhode Island and moved to Sudbury, MA, at an early age, a place he would call home no matter where he lived. A natural problem solver, he honed his skills in the family greenhouse business, through his education, and into his career as an Application Engineer in electronic design. Jeff had a unique ability to troubleshoot, fix, and explain almost anything.

Jeff’s passions were his family, travel, and diving. Known in the cave diving community, he completed his 100th cave dive in 2012 and continued diving until ALS made it impossible in 2019. Jeff’s love for family and travel were intertwined as he and his wife, Mary, traveled extensively, exploring Tahiti, Africa, the Caribbean, and the United States as avid RVers.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Mary Hawes, and his daughters, Jennifer Marie Hawes and Kristy Jean Hawes. He is also survived by his sister, Pamela Rotty, and brothers, Timothy and Jonathan.
