It is with sincere regret we announce the death of Jeffrey Dargatis II, formerly of Scranton, who died unexpectedly at his home in Satellite Beach, Florida on Tuesday, November 12, 2024. Born in Pamona, New Jersey, he was the Son of Jeffrey Dargatis and Nora Jean Dargatis formerly of Scranton. He was a graduate of West Scranton High School, where he was a member of the district champion wrestling team. He studied mathematics at Eastern Florida State College, Melbourne, Florida and Florida Institute of Technology, Melbourne Florida, where he loved to tutor math students. He joined the United States Marine Corp, where he worked in specialized linguistics. Jeffrey was not only a talented mathematician but also a talented musician, playing over several instruments. He was devoted to his Brothers Christian, Alexander and Matthew, who he loved spending time with solving complicated equations, discussing physics and linguistics above all making music while playing the piano and guitar. It was his love of making music with his Brothers that brought happiness and peace to his at times overbearing intellectual mind. Surviving are his Parents; Jeffrey Dargatis, Satellite Beach, Florida, Nora Jean Dargatis, Clarks Summit, three Brothers; Naval Seabee Christian Dargatis, San Diego, California, Marine Sergeant Alexander Dargatis, Kinston, North Carolina and Matthew Dargatis, Satellite Beach, Florida, Grandparents; MaryAnn and Michael Dargatis, Scranton, Michael Backus, Clarks Summit. Uncles; Michael Dargatis and his Wife Michelle, Clarks Green and his Son Michael Dargatis, Michael Backus and wife Lynn, Archabald and their Daughter Lauren and Son Michael, William Backus and Cheryl, Dunmore, Edward Backus and wife Michele, Clarks Summit and their Daughters Madison and Brynn. Aunts; Deborah Degraba and her Husband John, Virginia and her Daughter Rachel, Laura Backus, Scranton and her Daughters Nora and Brianna, Dustin Lukaitis, Dickson City and his Daughters Aubrey and Kennedy,Thomas Crisci, Scranton and his Daughter Victoria. He was preceded in death by his Grandmother; Nora Jean Backus, Uncle; Lance Corporal Eugene Backus, Uncle Patrick Backus, Aunt Mary Backus Lukaitis and Cousin Eugene Donovan, all formerly of Scranton, Pennsylvania. A private service will be held for immediate family in Florida. .
