On Saturday, August 27, 2022, Hedy Lynn (Ware) Kubarek, loving wife, mother and grandmother died peacefully at home in Cape Canaveral, Florida at the age of 77.

Born in Wheeling, West Virginia to Lester V. and Hilda M. (Yates) Ware, Hedy grew up in Hickory, Washington County, Pennsylvania. Hedy graduated from Fort Cherry High School with honors. She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from West Liberty State College in West Virginia, graduating with high honors. She completed her Medical Technology training at Monte-Fiore Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, then started her career at North Wheeling Hospital in West Virginia. Hedy managed the laboratory and microbiology at Harrison Community Hospital in Cadiz, Ohio for many years. Prior to retirement she enjoyed working as a medical technologist at Pottstown Hospital in Pennsylvania allowing her to focus on her love for microbiology. In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with grandchildren, cooking, sewing and was an avid reader. Hedy enjoyed many years with her husband Ron, fishing and boating on the St. Lawrence River where she also volunteered as a docent at the Cape Vincent Lighthouse.

Hedy is survived by her husband Ron Kubarek, her two children Stacey Larger (Ron) and Walt Shade from first marriage to Walter Shade, her grandchildren Christina and Katherine Larger, her sister Kathy (David) James, sister-in-law Marcia (Bernard) Hyde, brother-in-law Alan Kubarek, and loving nieces and nephews.

Hedy is preceded in death by her parents Lester and Hilda Ware as well as her sister Linda Hilferty (Jack).

Hedy’s ashes will be scattered in Cape Vincent, New York, a place she enjoyed.
