Elizabeth Mary De Armond (nee Arts), was born on a farm in upstate NY. She was the oldest child of Arnold M Arts and Elizabeth Vanecek. She spent her younger years in Wallington, NJ and New York City. Moving to the San Francisco Bay area on October 1, 1968. She thereafter considered herself a native Californian.
After her graduation from St Mary’s high school in Rutherford, NJ, she attended the Bergen County Hospital School of Medical Technology in Ridgewood NJ. She graduated St Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing in Passaic NJ in 1955. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from St Louis University in Missouri in 1959 , followed by a Master Of Science Degree in Nursing from Hunter College of New York City in 1964. She received scholarships to both of these schools and worked in the Nursing Profession for 50 years.
She enjoyed travelling and had visited over 30 states in the USA, as well as the East and West Coasts of Canada, Mexico, Japan, Taiwan, Macau and several European countries. Trying to stimulate the lost art of letter writing, she often wrote to family, friends, classmates and co-workers. She is also the author of Medical Office Assistant, written for vocational high schools for students in the path of a career in a health profession.
Survivors include: Brother – Arnold M Arts of Kansas, nieces, nephews and cousins as well as great and great great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Patricia Van Moerkerken, husband Gerald Lee De Armond and great nephew and godson Matthew Isel.
