Dorothy “Dottie” Jane Boyd, age 69, of Titusville, passed away on December 12th in her home in Titusville.
A celebration of her life in the form of Story Swapping will be held on Saturday, March 8,2025 at Kelly Park in Merritt Island, Florida. Please contact her daughter with any photos of Dorothy that you would like included at the event.
Dorothy was born in Orlando, Florida to Gerald Kutner and Bette Brast on August 14, 1955. She attended grade schools around the world, Sembach, Germany and Okinawa, Japan; but attended Merritt Island through her Sophomore year, and achieving her General Education Diploma through night school in 1978. She worked hard in various positions in hospitality and warehouse management. Dorothy was in Girl Scouts from Brownies through Cadets. She was involved with Space Coast Feline Network as a volunteer assisting with community cat colony management in her apartment complex. She enjoyed riding motorcycles, shooting pool, throwing darts, listening to the local bands play by the river, and most of all, she enjoyed helping others in need whether they were human or animals, especially if the animals were the feline variety.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her mother, Bette Brast Boyd of Rockledge, FL, father, Gerald Kutner of Merritt Island, FL and her great grandparents, Morton and Dorothy Kutner of Orlando, F’l
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Heidi Christopher of Titusville, FL; her granddaughter JoAnn Bidwell, brother Michael Boyd, sisters, Nancy Wheeler, and Sandy Stange, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Space Coast Feline Network, of central Florida.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the great nursing staff of the 14th floor at Advent of Orlando (Rollins Ave), Vitas Hospice in Brevard, Island Cremations, members of View out of my Window, and our extended family and friends who have helped make Dorothy’s life and final days memorable.
We ask that you honor Dorothy’s life and memory with kindness to others, big and small, for no act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted; and a single act of kindness throws out roots in all directions, and the roots spring up and make new trees.
