A memorial service will be held on Friday September 16, 2022 at 1pm at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, FL. Island Cremations and Funeral Home assisted the family.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that you give to your favorite charity or to the Cancer Society.

Donald Clifford Shell

November 10, 1932 to June 5, 2022

Donald Clifford Shell, age 89 passed into heaven on Sunday June 5, 2022. He was born November 10, 1932, in Lakeland, Florida.

He was proceeded In death by his wife of 68 years Carolyn Fay Shell who passed away on September 9, 2021, his parents, Paul and Mary Louise Shell Conte, brothers Bill and Edward and sister Marjorie. He was a longtime resident of Cocoa, Florida.

He is survived by his brother Guy (Connie) Shell of South Carolina and sons Gary Donald Shell (Verna) of Griffin, GA, Larry Clifford Shell and Daniel Paul Shell both of Cocoa, FL. His grandchildren Makayla McDaniel (Caleb) of Centerton, AR and Walter Cavender of Bellview, FL. He is also survived by his great grandson Lincoln Michael McDaniel of Centerton, AR.

He was a block mason by trade until he chose a career In Law enforcement. He is a retired Cocoa Beach Police Officer and was a Florida State Trooper and a veteran of the U. S. Army. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Merritt Island.

The family wishes to thank Hospice of St Francis in Titusville for his care.

We had three meetings before the ceremony even started to make sure that everything was going to be done properly and that we’re all on the same page. Island cremation arranged for the Marines to come and do a flag honor ceremony that was an excellent touch and made the whole ceremony very memorable. The funeral home was very clean and they even had masks and hand sanitizer set out. They helped setting up our food plus supplied some of their own. Very professional and highly recommended.

I had a Celebration of Life for my husband on his birthday last Friday.

Island Cremations helped me plan for the Funeral. They have been like family. I even brought my husband’s miniature poodle.

Dillon, Mike & Dawn helped me set up and clean up. We brought in food and drinks. I had a soft jazz CD playing in the rooms. The alter had my husband’s Dolphin Urn and flowers. His picture with him holding a 52 pound Dolphin was on a projector screen above the alter.

Pastor Babington did a wonderful sermon. The family & friends spoke of memorial times.

We all thank you for your kindness and warmth for this Celebration of Life for my husband.
