Celebration of Life at the Fraternal Order of Eagles 1050 N. Courtenay Pkwy, Merritt Island, FL Saturday 13th 2-4 PM.

A Mass will be held October 1, 2024, at Divine Mercy Catholic Church at 10 AM. She will be laid to rest with her husband at Canaveral National Cemetary following the Mass at 1 PM.

Delia spent her last days surrounded by her family and loved ones. She slipped peaceful into the arms of those who preceded her in death; that included her husband of 59 years, W.P. (Jack) Helms Jr., parents (Fred and Sophie Papineau); siblings (Fred Papineau, Michael Papineau, Albert [Butch] Papineau, Sophie Machek).
She is survived by two brothers (John Papineau and Vincent Papineau); her seven children (Walt Helms, John Helms, Michael Helms, Stephanie Schobel, Jack Helms, Delia Helms, and Timothy Helms) and seventeen grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren.
Delia was an active member of Divine Mercy Catholic church for over forty-two years.

My husband was an Army Veteran and they draped him with the American Flag as they were removing him from VITAS Hospice. We just had a wonderful experience at Island cremation with my father-in-law’s funeral. We had three meetings before the ceremony even started to make sure that everything was going to be done properly and that we’re all on the same page. Island cremation arranged for the Marines to come and do a flag honor ceremony that was an excellent touch and made the whole ceremony very memorable. The funeral home was very clean and they even had masks and hand sanitizer set out. They helped setting up our food plus supplied some of their own. Very professional and highly recommended.

I had a Celebration of Life for my husband on his birthday last Friday.

Island Cremations helped me plan for the Funeral. They have been like family. I even brought my husband’s miniature poodle.

Dillon, Mike & Dawn helped me set up and clean up. We brought in food and drinks. I had a soft jazz CD playing in the rooms. The alter had my husband’s Dolphin Urn and flowers. His picture with him holding a 52 pound Dolphin was on a projector screen above the alter.

Pastor Babington did a wonderful sermon. The family & friends spoke of memorial times.

We all thank you for your kindness and warmth for this Celebration of Life for my husband.
