Charlotte “Charlie” (Bowmar) Porreca, born on August 24th 1944, in Needham MA, passed away while snowbirding in Florida, on March 24th 2024.

Charlie leaves behind her beloved sons Paul and Michael Porreca. Charlie’s life partner, Leonard Bacon, and his family who surrounded their home in Norfolk MA, with Charlie’s love of flowers and gardens. She Leaves behind her two sisters. Sherry Geeleher and Lorraine Marcotrigiano and their families. Charlie also leaves behind a special bond between a grandmother and a grandson, Ryan Porreca of Merritt Island.

Services for family and the many friends she had will be held at a later date up north.

I dealt with Paul the owner he was very helpful. He assisted in the forms and contacted a few people to help with my fathers passing. They are all very compassionate and caring. It is a nice atmosphere and very professional in how they run the business. They did not try to push me towards anything or any package. Paul was very professional and comforting in explaining the details of what was needed. Mike was very caring when they took my Husband out of VITAS Hospice. My husband was an Army Veteran and they draped him with the American Flag as they were removing him from VITAS Hospice. We just had a wonderful experience at Island cremation with my father-in-law’s funeral. We had three meetings before the ceremony even started to make sure that everything was going to be done properly and that we’re all on the same page. Island cremation arranged for the Marines to come and do a flag honor ceremony that was an excellent touch and made the whole ceremony very memorable. The funeral home was very clean and they even had masks and hand sanitizer set out. They helped setting up our food plus supplied some of their own. Very professional and highly recommended.

I had a Celebration of Life for my husband on his birthday last Friday.

Island Cremations helped me plan for the Funeral. They have been like family. I even brought my husband’s miniature poodle.

Dillon, Mike & Dawn helped me set up and clean up. We brought in food and drinks. I had a soft jazz CD playing in the rooms. The alter had my husband’s Dolphin Urn and flowers. His picture with him holding a 52 pound Dolphin was on a projector screen above the alter.

Pastor Babington did a wonderful sermon. The family & friends spoke of memorial times.

We all thank you for your kindness and warmth for this Celebration of Life for my husband.
