The world dimmed on July 28, 2024, as Carolyn Jean Hague (née Beckwith) peacefully passed away at the age of 77, surrounded by her loving family in Cocoa Beach, FL. A remarkable presence known for her singular talent, intelligence, and beauty, Carolyn’s departure leaves a void felt deeply by all who knew her.
Born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Carolyn was the cherished daughter of the late Professor Stephen Lyon Beckwith and Virginia Beckwith (née Osterberg). Her formative years were spent in Gainesville, Florida, where she graduated from P.K. Yonge High School in 1965. She continued her academic journey at West Virginia University, earning both her undergraduate and Master’s degrees in Fine Arts.
Carolyn shared a profound and enduring love with Brigadier General David C. Hague, USMC (Ret.), for 56 years. Their life together was a testament to grace, dedication, and the Marine Corps motto Semper Fidelis (Always Faithful). Through the trials and triumphs of Marine Corps life, they built a legacy of cherished memories and mutual respect that enriched not only their lives but also the lives of those around them.
Beyond her family, Carolyn’s warmth, wit, and genuine kindness left an indelible mark on everyone she met. Her life was a beautiful reflection of devotion and a celebration of the joys and complexities of living fully.
Carolyn is lovingly remembered by her children, Stephen Darnold Hague (Alysia) of Atlanta, GA, and Ashley Elizabeth Cameron (Robert) of Raleigh, NC; her treasured granddaughter, Virginia Cameron; and her brother, Steven Beckwith (Claudia) of Cocoa Beach, FL. Her memory will forever resonate in their hearts and in the countless stories and moments that defined their lives together.
A private celebration of Carolyn’s life will be held at a future date, honoring the remarkable legacy she leaves behind

She is lovingly survived by her husband BGen David C. Hague USMC and children Stephen Hague (Alysia) of Atlanta, GA and Ashley Cameron (Robert), granddaughter Virginia Cameron of Raleigh, NC, and brother Steven Beckwith (Claudia) of Cocoa Beach, FL.
Preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Stephen Beckwith and Virginia Beckwith (née Osterberg). A private memorial service will be planned at a later date.
