MERRITT ISLAND –
Dr. Bruce McNeil Milburn Sr., MD passed away on December 27, 2024, at the age of 70 in Merritt Island, FL. Born on March 23, 1954, Bruce dedicated his life to medicine and his family, saving and touching countless lives as a respected rheumatologist and internist. He held degrees from Belmont Abbey, Hahnemann Medical College, and Georgetown University, which propelled him into a career marked by compassion and innovation. Bruce was a devout member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and. His faith was an integral part of his life, guiding him as a healer and family man. Bruce’s personal life was rich with interests, including golf with all three children, shooting sports, specifically trap with daughter, Pamela, opera, classical music, cycling and walk abouts with the whole family. He enjoyed watching daughter Mary Claire and son, Bruce Jr. compete in swimming throughout their college years. He also enjoyed watching daughter, Pamela, perform with the Florida State University Marching Chiefs.
We know he is now walking, running, feeling no pain, in the presence of Jesus watching down on his beloved family who knows that one day we’ll all be together once more.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Anne-Marie Milburn; his daughters, Pamela Anne Milburn and Dr. Mary Claire Milburn, DPT; his son, Dr. Bruce McNeil Milburn, Jr., MD (Laura); and his cherished grandchildren, Veronica Pamela Anne Milburn and Connor McNeil Milburn.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mildred Milburn (nee Wioncek).

My husband was an Army Veteran and they draped him with the American Flag as they were removing him from VITAS Hospice. We had three meetings before the ceremony even started to make sure that everything was going to be done properly and that we’re all on the same page. Island cremation arranged for the Marines to come and do a flag honor ceremony that was an excellent touch and made the whole ceremony very memorable. The funeral home was very clean and they even had masks and hand sanitizer set out. They helped setting up our food plus supplied some of their own. Very professional and highly recommended.

I had a Celebration of Life for my husband on his birthday last Friday.

Island Cremations helped me plan for the Funeral. They have been like family. I even brought my husband’s miniature poodle.

Dillon, Mike & Dawn helped me set up and clean up. We brought in food and drinks. I had a soft jazz CD playing in the rooms. The alter had my husband’s Dolphin Urn and flowers. His picture with him holding a 52 pound Dolphin was on a projector screen above the alter.

Pastor Babington did a wonderful sermon. The family & friends spoke of memorial times.

We all thank you for your kindness and warmth for this Celebration of Life for my husband.
