Graveside Services for Beverly M Putnam, 91, of Sebastian, Florida and formally of
Rensselaer Falls, New York, will be held on Saturday August 17, 2024, at 11:30 am at the
Rensselaer Falls Cemetery, followed by a Celebration of Life Luncheon at the Rensselaer
Falls Fire Hall.
Beverly died June 12, 2024 at the home of her Diane Putnam-Reed in Sebastian, Florida.
Born April 13,1933, in Heuvelton, New York, daughter of Franklin and Jessie Bishop. She
graduated from Heuvelton Central School and furthering her education at the Ogdensburg
Business School receiving her Secretarial Certificate. She was employed as a secretary
with Fletcher McCarthy and Norwood Plumbing before becoming a Sales Representative
with Retail Sales East and retiring at the age of 85.
She married Merle Putnam on July 12, 1952 at the United Methodist Church in Ogdensburg,
New York. They moved to Fort Benning Georgia, where her husband was serving in the
United States Army from 1952 to 1954 before returning to Heuvelton and then moving to
Rensselaer Falls where they raised their three children Donna, Wayne and Diane.
Surviving are a daughter Donna and Pedro Alvarez, Ogdensburg, NY, a son Wayne and
Barbara Putnam, Auburn, NY and a daughter Diane Putnam-Reed, Sebastian, FL. Sisters
Edna Lake, Heuvelton, NY and Frances Countrymen, Louisiana and a sister-in-law Trudy
Bishop. Seven Grandchildren and Fourteen Great Grandchildren and several Nieces and
She is preceded by her Husband Merle Putnam, parents Franklin and Jessie Bishop, a
brother George Bishop who passed two weeks after Beverly and son-in-law Eugene (Gene)
Beverly loved her family and spending time with them making memories. She loved baking
with her great grandchildren, showing them how to roll out the cookie dough, pie crust and
teaching them how to make the perfect raspberry pie. It made her so happy when she
would get a call asking how to make her cabbage salad, fruit salad, spaghetti sauce and
her homemade meatballs. She also enjoyed gardening, diamond art, board games,
puzzles, watching movies and rides in the golf cart.
