Betty Jean Lingo passed away peacefully, December 26th, 2021, in the presence of her husband of 67 years, Richard R. Lingo Sr., both of Sylvania, Ohio. She is preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Thelma Palmer, her brothers Richard and Robert Palmer, and her great grandson Caleb.

Betty was born in Sylvania, Ohio on February 15, 1936. After graduating from Burnham High School she married her high school sweetheart, Richard on November 5,1954. Together, they had 4 boys, Richard Jr, Jeffrey, Robert and Steven. All of their boys married and the family grew. Betty was blessed with 12 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.

In the 1970’s, as her boys were growing up, Betty discovered her talent for baking. She worked at numerous bakeries in the Toledo, Ohio, Virginia and Merritt Island, Florida areas. Her famous cookie and cake creations graced the tables of more celebrations than we could have ever kept count of. Her cakes were a centerpiece of most family gatherings and by the accounts of her grandkids and great grandkids, her cookies were world famous as well. One of her great accomplishments was a cake that was comissioned for the Bicentennial in 1976 where she labored for weeks to create the White House with a picture of every US president to date made of sugar.

Betty took great pleasure in singing in her church choir and especially in the many Christmas and Easter productions her and Richard participated in over the years.

Betty had a deep faith in the Lord and her family takes great comfort in knowing she is now healthy and whole in the presence of her Savior. She is survived by her husband, Richard Sr.; her sons, Richard Jr.; Jeffrey and wife Linda; Robert and wife Robin; Steven and wife Susan; her brother Don and wife Melody; and many many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
