Barry A. Ebert, a resident of Melbourne, Florida, slid into home plate on November 17, 2021. He was 76.

Barry was born in Philadelphia, PA to Betty and Herman Ebert on May 6, 1945. Barry was raised with his older brother, Richard Ebert, in a home filled with laughter, love, and baseball. Barry’s parents and brother instilled a strong sense of responsibility for community and humankind in Barry that he carried out during his lifetime.

Barry was the class president and valedictorian of his high school class, graduating in 1963 from Springfield High School, Montgomery County, PA. He also earned his varsity letter as the first baseman on the Springfield High School Baseball Team. Barry never missed a high school reunion and he remained close with his high school chums throughout his life. Many of his high school pals will remember him as not only a leader and the life of the party, but a true friend who would be there through the hard times too.

Barry went on to graduate from Princeton University in 1967 with a degree in economics. While at Princeton, he was the treasurer of the Cannon eating club. Barry had a group of close buddies from Princeton and Cannon, whose misadventures provided him with numerous hysterical stories that he recounted many times over the years.

Thereafter, Barry obtained his MBA from the Wharton School and embarked on a career in real estate in the Philadelphia area. Real estate did not fulfill Barry’s professional passions. Therefore, he moved to Melbourne, FL in 1992 and reinvented his career as a business broker. Barry was the most admired and respected business broker in Melbourne until his retirement in 2018. He was loved by his clients and treated each of them with equal importance and attention, regardless of the value of their businesses.

Shortly after moving to Florida, Barry met his soulmate and life partner, Susan Boulware Ebert. Together, they built a life filled with laughter and personal growth. Barry and Susan made each other laugh every day.

Barry is the beloved father to Stefanie Ebert. She describes him as her rock and the greatest influence on her life. Through his thoughtful advice and support, he encouraged her to pursue her dreams on her own terms.

Barry loved the beach, especially Ocean City, NJ, where he spent his summers as a boy, and Avalon, NJ, where he spent his summers as an adult. He loved the beaches of Indialantic, FL because they reminded him of the Jersey Shore.

Barry’s humor, love, and friendship will be missed by all who knew him.

Barry is survived by his wife, Susan, his daughter, Stefanie, his step-sons, Drew Smith (Amy), Schuyler Boulware (Alicia), and Jonathan Boulware, his grandchildren, Sami, Jack, and Radical, his nieces and nephew, Kristen Ebert, Jeff Ebert, and Lauren Blackford, and his first wife, Gail Agerton. Barry was predeceased by his parents, brother, and sister-in-law, Anne Ebert.
