Barbara Faye Muecke, age 90, was born on April 20, 1936 in Toledo, Iowa. She was the daughter of Milo and Blanche (Stevenson) Striley. Barbara passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.
Barbara attended Toledo Public School, graduating from Toledo High School in 1954. She attended Iowa State Teacher’s College in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
She married Bruce Muecke on January 25, 1986 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They purchased their home at 1102 S. Broadway in Toledo, Iowa in 1988. They sold this home in October 2025, when they moved to Titusville, Florida.
Barbara retired from her employment at the Tama County Treasurer’s Office in 2001. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Toledo. She was a former member of the Toledo Federated Women’s Club and Pleasant Hill Cemetary Society.
She enjoyed wintering in Florida for many years. She liked baking cookies, and she loved being with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Bruce, of Titusville, FL; four children: Rebecca (Alex) Ritchie of Titusville, FL, Christopher (Diane) Bearden of Tama, IA, Amy (Lyle) Henle of Toledo, IA, Cynthia (Eric) Rademacher of Port St. John, FL; two step-children: BuSandra Muecke of Pennsylvania and Bruce (Sylvia) Muecke of Minnesota; 18 grandchildren: Sean (Gina) Plowman, Brianne (Rick) Silva, Hannah (Jake) Rosenberger, Savannah Bearden, Noah (Molly) Bearden, Jonah Bearden, Kelsey (Brandon) Dvorak, Kolby Starits, Karlee (Ryan) Kasal, Kadence Epperly, Koya Epperly, Adam Henle, Doug (Nicole) Biddle, Tiffany Biddle, Kyle (Maia) Biddle, Windy (Shayne) Erb, David Muecke, and Christopher Muecke; 30 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Barbara was preceded in death by her father Milo in 1950 and mother Blanche in 1991; two brothers, Merle in infancy and Dean in 2013; one sister, Shirley Secrist in 2023; two grandsons, Brian Brandon Plowman in 1974 and Konnor Jesstin Starits in 1993.
As per her request, Barbara will be cremated with a Celebration of Life gathering at her home in Titusville, FL on Sunday, May 31, 2026, from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM. Her burial will be at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, Forida at a later date.
