In Loving Memory of Anthony P. Sabatino Sr. (Pops)

Anthony P. Sabatino Sr., fondly known as “Pops,” passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at the age of 85 in Merritt Island, FL. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication, love, and remarkable service.

Pops led an extraordinary life, marked by a distinguished 30-year career as a Miami Beach Police officer. His commitment to the force and the community he served was unwavering, earning him the respect and admiration of all who knew him.

Beyond his professional life, Pops was a devoted family man and is survived by his sons, Tony and Matt Sabatino. He extended his heart to include not only his immediate family but also cherished his friends as if they were family. Pops had a unique gift for making everyone feel welcome and loved.

In his free time, Pops found solace and adventure in offshore fishing. He, alongside his police buddies, established a haven in the Everglades, aptly named “Kops Kamp,” where countless memories were forged with airboats and swamp buggies.

Pops leaves behind a loving legacy through his seven grandchildren: Tanya, Tyler, Nic, Matt, Dominic, Matthew, and Nico. He also leaves behind eight great grandchildren. Although he is no longer with us, his spirit lives on in the hearts of all those he touched.

Pops was preceded in death by his parents and his two daughters, Gina and Lia. His memory will forever be cherished, and his impact on the lives he touched will endure.

A memorial service to celebrate Pops’ life will be held on Thursday, Sept 21st, in the back Banquet room of Time Out Sports Bar at 6pm.
