It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Amy Elizabeth (Buss) Thomas, who left us on January 23, 2024 at the age of 51 after a two year battle with cancer. Amy was born on August 22, 1972, in Abington, Pennsylvania.

Amy was known for her sense of humor and tenacity. She touched the lives of many through her work as a nurse. Her smile and naughty streak will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She is survived by her husband Keven Thomas, daughters Riley Elizabeth and Tess Jordan Thomas, parents Barbara Lee (Rickenbach) and Douglas Conrad Buss, and sister, Kelly Tatone (Tom). She also leaves behind nieces Veronica Lee Tatone, Juliet Rose Tatone, and Cricket Jade Tatone, aunt and uncle Ileana and Greg Rickenbach, and cousins Charlie Inman (Katie) and Paul Rickenbach (Gamze). Preceding her in death were her grandparents Richard Lee and Vera Betty (Wolf) Rickenbach and Walter James and Lois Emma (Kenagy) Buss, and aunt and uncle Pamela (Buss) and Chuck Inman.

A Celebration of Life was held on July 27, 2024 at the Brevard Zoo, a favorite place for Amy and her family. The family requests that donations be made to the Brevard Zoo (https://bit.ly/AmyElizabethThomas) or to a cancer organization in her memory.

She will live on in our hearts, and will be dearly missed.

Rest in peace, dear Amy. You will always be loved and remembered.

My husband was an Army Veteran and they draped him with the American Flag as they were removing him from VITAS Hospice. We just had a wonderful experience at Island cremation with my father-in-law’s funeral. We had three meetings before the ceremony even started to make sure that everything was going to be done properly and that we’re all on the same page. Island cremation arranged for the Marines to come and do a flag honor ceremony that was an excellent touch and made the whole ceremony very memorable. The funeral home was very clean and they even had masks and hand sanitizer set out. They helped setting up our food plus supplied some of their own. Very professional and highly recommended.

I had a Celebration of Life for my husband on his birthday last Friday.

Island Cremations helped me plan for the Funeral. They have been like family. I even brought my husband’s miniature poodle.

Dillon, Mike & Dawn helped me set up and clean up. We brought in food and drinks. I had a soft jazz CD playing in the rooms. The alter had my husband’s Dolphin Urn and flowers. His picture with him holding a 52 pound Dolphin was on a projector screen above the alter.

Pastor Babington did a wonderful sermon. The family & friends spoke of memorial times.

We all thank you for your kindness and warmth for this Celebration of Life for my husband.
