Adrienne Mesha Hammonds (Wilson) left our world on July 14, 2022.Born into a Navy family on NAS Lemoore, CA, she moved to Japan at the age of one, and lived there for ten of her childhood years. Adrienne always said Japan was her true home, and she adored Japanese art and food. She attended both elementary and high school on a Navy Base in Yokosuka, Japan. “A,” as her family and friends know her, was creative and artistically talented from an early age. She loved sketching, writing short stories, songs, or putting on plays for her family. She was a quiet, shy, and sensitive child with a huge heart who would go to great lengths to never eat a single vegetable. She dreamed of becoming a veterinarian. Upon returning to the U.S., her family relocated to Merritt Island, Florida where she graduated from Merritt Island High School in 1997. She began a career in retail and human resources, where she made many of her friends. Respected and well-liked by her colleagues, Adrienne was always there to support them with their problems. She was a people person, and she enjoyed working with a diverse team. Her charity work included preparing food for families at the Ronald McDonald House, and fund raising through her work. A passionate, multi-cultural foodie, Adrienne displayed her creativity as an adult with her imaginative recipes. But if “A” could be anywhere, it was outdoors in a kayak, on a bike, or on a hike with family or friends. Her happy place was a secluded beach with her toes in the sand with her rescue dog, Nacho. Adrienne was an old soul in her etiquette. She always held the door for strangers and demanded no mobile devices at dinner tables. When she gathered with friends or family, she insisted that everyone was present and engaging. Always quick to crack a joke or smart remark, she made others laugh–and often. She married Jason Hammonds of Jacksonville, Florida in March 2012 who preceded her in death. Adrienne is survived by her parents, Michael and Christiane Wilson, her sister, Jessica Wilson-McFarlane, Grandmother Vonette Wilson, brother-in-law Matthew McFarlane, nephew Max, and a huge extended family that loves her. The family wishes that you would remember Adrienne with fondness, as the person she was when you knew her at her best. Those who knew her will miss her bright, beautiful smile, her wit, and how much fun she was to be with
