RUTH PARKER GREIG HEFFELFINGER

Ruth Evelyn Heffelfinger, 90, of Melbourne, FL, passed away on June 15 at home. She was born in Claymont, Delaware on January 4, 1930 to Charles Edward Parker and Emma Isabelle (Hummel) Parker, the youngest of seven children. She graduated Eddystone High School in Pennsylvania in 1948. While working at Southco in Lester, PA, she met her husband-to-be, Richard Howard Heffelfinger. On July 23, 1954, they were married at Tinicum Memorial Lutheran Church in Essington.

Her strong belief in the Lord Jesus Christ alone for her salvation, as well as her dedication to being a faithful wife and mother, were Ruth’s highest priorities. Her involvement with The Navigators ministry resulted in a love for the Bible and memorization of numerous Scripture verses. She learned how to share her faith through the Evangelism Explosion ministry and it was her great joy to lead many people to faith in Jesus. Her homemaking skills and interests included being an excellent cook, home decorator, seamstress, competitive bowler, snow skier, and beach lover. During her younger years, Ruth chaperoned many of her children’s various scouting and school trips, and she derived much pride and enjoyment as a singer and active member of the Valley Forge Chapter of Sweet Adelines.

Ruth is survived by her husband, Richard; her four children, Curtis (Jan) of Clearwater, ID; Lynn (Ron) Fox of Rockledge; Richard (Bonni) of Cocoa; and Vance of Melbourne; sister Caroline Emplit of Morton, PA; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; brothers Charles, Irvin, and Jack Parker; sisters Helen Mattes and Miriam Goslin; grandson, Joshua James Heffelfinger; and daughter-in-law, Nancy Masologites Heffelfinger.
