Sunday February 9, 2020, John W. Rockefeller III loving father and husband, passed away peacefully at home in Cocoa Beach FL. He was 80 years old.

John was born and raised in Milburn NJ area. He earned a BA from Rutgers University and MBA from Farleigh Dickinson University. He worked for Mobil Chemical in New York, NY and Rochester, NY for the bulk of his career.

As a young parent, he spent endless hours coaching his children’s sports teams and participating in the Indian Guides. He had a love for music and dancing and filled the house with the sounds of Dione Warwick, the Supremes, Chuck Berry and Johnny Cash. In the 70’s he even took disco dancing lessons and learned to “do the Hussle”.

His greatest passion and accomplishments were earned playing golf. At age 16 he won the NJ State Golf Association Junior Championship and later the Intercollegiate Championship in 1963.  He was the club champion at 3 different clubs in Central NJ. He was proud to win the Senior Men’s Champion at Oak Hill Country Club in Pittsford NY where he was a member for 30 years.

John also had a love for the game of bridge. In later life he was able to meet many friends and continue challenging his brain through the game.

John is survived by his wife Alex, daughter and son in law Brooke and Ed Cote of Stamford CT, son and daughter in law Paul and Ann Marie (Kerr) Rockefeller of Marietta, GA and a sister Mary Gay Brown of Interlaken, NJ, He is predeceased by his parents Mary Gay Brooke and John W. Rockefeller Jr. both from NJ.
