Janie Marie Proudfoot 72, of Titusville, FL formerly of Cortland, OH passed peacefully with family by her side on 9/3/18. Born 7/28/46 in Sewickley, PA, she married her best friend John on 9/16/66. She worked at Packard Electric for 26 years. Survived by Husband (John L.), Son John N.(Amy),Grandsons Stryder & Wyatt. Preceded in death by Parents Jack & Lula Eckley, Sister Marlene Smith, & Charlotte (Mother in Law) Janie was a devout Christian, who enjoyed going out to movies, restaurants and car cruises. In the 60’s and 70’s you would have seen her at Ohio Drag City or Quaker City Dragstrip working on engines or racing down the quarter mile. Also in the 70’s era is when she purchased season tickets to her beloved Pittsburgh Steelers, those tickets stayed with her, John, and her son Johnny up until they moved to South Florida in 2013 to be closer to their grandkids. Her grandchildren Stryder, & Wyatt were “what kept her going” as she’d say so often. She loved watching them play baseball, hockey, or anything they were interested in. Most never knew the amount of pain she suffered on a daily basis, because she would never mention it. The list of ailments she endured for the past 30 years would be enough to take down large cities, but she never flinched and continued her passion of helping others in any way she possibly could. Whether it was caring for an elderly family member for 6 years who was bed ridden and brought to her home, or babysitting some very special kids who she loved dearly, or the thousands of other acts of kindness she performed daily. One thing was for sure you could ask, and ask, and ask how she was feeling but you would always get the same answer “I’m doing fine”. No matter how much pain she was in she wore a smile on her face and let God handle her ailments. Loved by so many she will always be remembered for her compassion, kind soul, & the joy she brought to so many. As her wishes no services were held. Even in her death she did not want to be a burden to anyone, as in life it was never about her. Its an understatement to say that Janie Marie was one in a million, she was more like one in infinity. We will miss her so much, but we will rejoice and be glad that she suffers no more. We can see her now sitting next to Jesus asking what she can do to help. “Angels descending bring from above Echoes of mercy, whispers of love This is my story this is my song praising my Savior all the day long” In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been set up through www.gofundme.com, Janie(Marie) Proudfoot Memorial Fund..
