Grace Eloise Porcher Davis, affectionately known as “Lou, Mom, Nanny” to her beloved family
and friends, passed away peacefully at home in Merritt Island, Florida, on Tuesday, May 19,
2020, at the age of 86 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. She was surrounded by loved
ones.
Lou was born in Melbourne, Florida on June 18, 1933. She had 2 siblings: her twin brother
Harry “Hal” Porcher, and her younger sister, Paula Criser. Lou graduated from Palm Beach High
School in 1952, where she was a member of the Chi Delta Rho sorority. After, high school, Lou
attended Palm Beach Community College, was a member of the Palm Beach Garden Club, and
was a model. In 1957, she married the love of her life, Robert “Bob” C. Davis in a joint ceremony
with her sister.
Lou spent most of her life in Florida, though one of her great passions was traveling with her
husband. She was a member of the Methodist Church, and never turned down an opportunity to
play a game of bridge. A dedicated wife and mother, devoted much of her time and energy to
her family. She brought joy and comfort to those around her when they needed it.
Lou is preceded in death by her parents, Grace Callahan Porcher and Harry Thrasher Porcher;
her sister Paula; and her children Catherine Maki and Adam Davis.
She is survived by her children: Paula Roberts (Paul), Robert C. Davis II (Melisa), JoAnna
Geiman (Walter); 11 grandchildren: Rachael, Kacie, Pauline, Elizabeth, Nicholas, Patrick,
Amanda, Madeline, Walter, Chloe, Alex; 4 great grandchildren: Izabella, Ella, Nathaniel, Cohen,
and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will follow in the future.
