June 3, 1943 - October 4, 2019

Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Service to celebrate her life on Saturday, October 19th at 2:00 p.m. at New Hope Ministries 7675 Davis Blvd Naples, FL 34104.

On Friday, October 4th, 2019 Ella Nora Hogue Finger left this life to be with her first true love Gerald Alan Finger whom of which preceded her in death.

Born June 13,1943 to parents Walter Alfred Hogue and Mary Alice Blackmon Hogue in Fort Myers, Florida.  Ellie, as she was known to family and friends was the oldest daughter of four girls.  The Hogue family resided in Naples, Florida.  The house was small but full of laughter, mischief, and most of all love.

Ellie graduated from Naples High School in 1961.  On October 19th 1963 she married Jerry.  Later they were blessed with two children, the oldest a son, Christopher Alan Finger and the youngest a daughter, LaDonna Lea Finger Hanks.

Ellie loved being outdoors. She was widely known as a skilled fisherman, in fact she often out fished her husband.  She also had an amazing green thumb.  People regularly came to her seeking information such as names of plants, best location to for a rose garden, how to rid their plants of pesky insects.

Ellie also was very athletic.   She played volleyball and softball in the local recreation teams for many years.  She loved to joke back and forth with the umpires through the games as she took her position behind the plate.  Later in life her competitiveness led her to bowling. On the field, on the court, on the lane, on the river Ellie made life long friends.

Ellie’s knowledge of plants led to a successful career managing nurseries in Naples and Marco Island.  After years of working in nurseries she then shifted her passion to being a care taker.  She loved and cared for so many people over the years.  They all touched her life just as she did theirs.

Above all else, Mom – Ellie – Ella Nora – Norne- Aunt Norne- Grandma – Gma –  loved her family and friends. She touched all who were blessed to have known her. She loved with her whole heart.  She was a champion, a teacher, a counselor, a motivator, a shoulder to lean on, a warm embrace, a mischief maker, a life long friend, and so much more.

Ellie is survived by her son, Christopher Finger, daughter LaDonna Finger Hanks and adopted daughter Susan Schmidt Getson.  Ellie is survived by ten grandchildren: Monica, Shelby,  Dorian, Geri,  Greer, Braeden, Connor,  Brianna, Brooke, Cali and five great grandchildren: Carmen, Nathan, Tristen, Roman, and Murphy.

Ellie is also survived by her younger sisters Sarah Hogue, Carol Hogue Kent, Barbara Hogue Calderone.  The sisters love for one another was like no other.  Their sisterly bond is the glue that holds the family together. A sister is a gift to the heart, a friend to the spirit and a golden thread to where you all began your lives.     Ellie has also been blessed with a multitude of nieces and nephews as well. Each of which held a special place her heart.
