Island Cremations & Funeral Home ~ Merritt Island, Florida ~ 321-454-3331

March 1, 1957 - July 29, 2020

Due to current conditions, a formal service will not be held.  An informal memorial is being planned and will be announced.

Barbara Ott Hall passed away peacefully July 29 at her mother’s home.

She is survived by her mother, Sylvia Freeman, her stepfather Camille Freeman, her fiancée Larry Jenkins, Aunt Yolland Finan, Aunt Marie-Danielle Behlok, Uncle Andre Finan, nephew Robert Ott, niece Catalina Ott, and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her husband Ray, son Ryan, daughter Melissa, brother Jack, nephew Adam, and father Jack.

Barbara was born in Washington DC, but spent most of her youth in Merritt Island, graduating from Merritt Island high school.  She met and married Ray in 1975.  They lived in Arizona and Texas before settling down back in Rockledge, Florida.  They bought a home and put up an addition, doing most of the work themselves.

Her proudest working career moments were as a teacher for special needs students.  She had a knack for finding a way to reach and bond with each child.  She kept in contact with some of these students and their parents who would check in with her to tell her how they were doing or to just say thank you.

Barbara loved spending time at the beach going all the way back to her teenage days.  The sounds and sights of the waves were always a calming influence.  She also would put on her overalls and putter in the yard, picking the weeds by hand and planting flowers. She enjoyed classic 70’s music, particularly the blues.

She had a smile that never stopped, and always wanted others to see happiness, even at her own expense.  She was a strong, vibrant, beautiful lady that will be missed by all that knew her.  Be at peace Barbara, the Lord has called you home.
