Alma Jean Hemphill, age 85, passed away on May 26, 2016, at her home in Merritt Island, Florida. She is survived by her three daughters, Darin Tennant of Merritt Island, Florida, Denise Munster of Cocoa, Florida, and Drue Tibbits of Geneva, Florida. She was predeceased by her husband, Jerry Hemphill, and son, David Newmyer.

Alma loved traveling, both in the United States and abroad. She enjoyed extensive visits to Central America, especially Mexico and Guatemala. She also traveled to Ireland. Alma followed in her own mother’s footsteps and was quite talented at drawing. She also enjoyed cooking, reading, and playing cards. In later life, she embraced the digital age and took pleasure in making online friends. She played online games and was a forum participant.

In addition to her daughters, Alma was the matriarch of a large family that includes eight grandchildren: Zachary and Christopher Tennant, Roxanna and Becky Olsen, Michelle Hartley, Paul Moffett, Sarah Tibbits and Steven Tibbits II. She also leaves behind eight great-grandchildren: Zackary and Samantha Tennant, Riley Olsen, Maggie Trawick, Mackenzie and Morgan Hartley, and Hannah and Emma Moffett.
