Joe M. Alvarez, of Merritt Island, Florida, passed away on January 21, 2014.

He was born in Tampa, Florida, to Josefa Saldana Alvarez and Francisco
Alvarez, on October 29, 1926. He married Milagros Pinella, on January 16,
1948. They celebrated 66 years of marriage just before his passing.

Joe was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He was a Veteran of World War II in the United States Navy,
assigned to the U.S.S. Randolph. He loved his baseball and coached little
league for many years. Getting the opportunity to coach his son, and watch his
grandson and great-grand son play little league. He was admired and loved by
all who passed though his life.

Joe, was survived by his wife; Milagros Alvarez, children; Cookie Jenkins,
Nancy Oliver, Frances Alvarez, and Joe M Alvarez Jr., grandchildren: Tara
Errigo, Joe M Alvarez III, Carly Regan, Ashley Waterhouse, Amanda
Zimmerman, and his great-grand children: Jaxson Waterhouse, Tyler Errigo,
Callan Regan, Quinn Regan, Olivia Alvarez, and Joe M Alvarez IV.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Vitas Innovative
Hospice Care, 1100 South Courtenay Parkway, Merritt, Island, Florida 32952 ,
who took such excellent care of him or to the American Cancer Society.

“God saw he was getting tired and a cure was not to be.
So He put his arms around him, and whispered, “come with me”.
With tearful eyes we watched him suffer, and saw him fade away.
Although we loved him dearly, we could not make him stay.
A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands to rest,
God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the BEST..”
